Tell us a little about your story.
TUPPERWARE PARTY is basically Desperate Housewives meets Slasher, where a mundane, boring tupperware party in a suburban neighbourhood takes a turn for the worse.
Why did you want to write a slasher story and do you feel you brought something different to the table?
I’d never written a specific slasher story (I feel like my short story THE BANQUET doesn’t quite count) and I just wanted to see if I could do it. I like my stories gruesome and gory so it definitely fits the slasher theme. I don’t think I brought anything new and different to the genre, other than people might find it fun to read.
Do you have a favourite slasher story/movie?
I don’t read/watch a lot of slashers but Scream is definitely my favorite.
Why is it important to you to have a woman led press like Kandisha?
Because those kinds of press help elevate us women horror writers. They help shine a light on us when we’ve been pushed into the shadows of a male-dominated genre. They make us feel seen and valued.
What’s next for you?
I’m currently in the middle of writing the 4th book of my vampire horror series while co-writing a Splatter Horror Western story with my friend. I’m also preparing to release my short story collection AS THE NIGHT DEVOURS US in August or September.
